Hello, I’m Jason Alexander — a UK-trained Carpenter & Joiner with nearly 25 years’ experience, specialising exclusively in wainscoting and wall panelling.
I personally complete every installation using my purpose built mobile workshop.
All of my prices are shown below. Simply measure your wall length and multiply this by the metre rate for the wainscoting of your choice. As each style is cut to suit your specific home, this also allows them to be fully customisable to your preference of height, spacing, frequency and layout - all without any change in price.
I can also provide fixed quotations from floor plans so feel free to send those through if this is easier for you.
Exceptions & Variations
Stair walls x2 the applicable metre rate
Ceiling heights above 3m add 10% per 0.3m of additional height
Double wainscoting x1.5 the applicable metre rate (secondary wainscoting panel inside of each panel)
How It Works – Simple & Transparent Process
We’ve designed our process to be straightforward, fair, and efficient.
1. Submit Your Enquiry - Fill in our simple contact form with your name, suburb, email, and a brief overview of your project (e.g. which rooms, style preference, or any specific ideas).
2. Receive Your Measuring Guide & Booking Form - We’ll reply promptly with a clear measuring guide and booking form. You simply measure your walls yourself (rough approximations of the total linear metres are fine — no need for perfection). Choose your style(s) and submit the details to book your installation.
3. On-Site Walkthrough & Final Design - On the scheduled day, I’ll arrive with my purpose-built mobile workshop. We design a unique layout together — choosing heights, panel spacing, centre boxes, and any custom details to suit your unique space and intended result.
4. Professional Installation - I personally prepare and install the wainscoting, using premium genuine pine mouldings.
It’s that simple. No hidden costs - just transparent upfront pricing and a professional, friendly service to create beautiful interior accents for your home.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Living Walls Joinery different from other wainscoting providers?
With nearly 25 years as a UK-trained Carpenter & Joiner, I am Sydney’s longest-running and most experienced wainscoting specialist. I’ve worked extensively with designers, architects, and homeowners on everything from heritage restorations to modern new builds. I personally handle every installation with my purpose-built mobile workshop and premium materials. Unlike mass-produced kits or one-size-fits-all solutions, I offer fully custom supply and professional installation at transparent fixed per-metre rates, with on-site flexibility to get the design perfect for your space.
What is the lead time from booking to installation?
Generally we are able to fit in smaller jobs within 1-2 weeks and 2-4 weeks for larger, bespoke work where we may need to make a little more room in the schedule.
How does the quoting and measuring process work?
Because Sydney is so large, we don’t do initial in-person measuring visits for every enquiry (this saves everyone time, traffic hassle, and cost). Instead, you simply fill out our contact form and we’ll send you our easy measuring guide. Rough approximations of your wall metres are fine. On the morning we arrive, we allow ample time to walkthrough together and create a layout together before anything is cut and prepared.
What happens if my measurements are not exact?
No problem at all. The initial measurements are just to give us a close idea for booking and quoting. On the day we measure everything accurately together, finalise the design, and adjust the invoice to reflect the actual linear metres installed. You only pay for actual metres completed.
How long does installation take?
It depends on the scope and complexity (e.g. number of walls, staircases, full-height vs dado). We’ll provide a realistic timeframe during the booking process based on your details. Most standard projects are completed efficiently in a single visit or a few days.
Can I install wainscoting on rendered walls or gyprock?
Yes — we install on both rendered walls and gyprock (plasterboard). I use specialised tools and proven fixing methods for a secure, long-lasting finish on either surface. Just mention the wall type in your enquiry so we can plan accordingly.
How are staircases priced?
Staircase and angled areas are charged at twice the standard per-metre rate for the chosen style. This reflects the additional time and complexity required for cuts and fitting. Fortunately, these are normally only a few metres out of each installation.
How can I prepare for installation?
If items can be moved away from the walls in preparation this is a great help. For heavier items, I am very happy to assist on the day of installation so no need to worry!
